There’s
a new game in town that is gaining a huge following because of its intense
graphics, great gameplay and ease of use. It’s been compared to Defense of the
Ancients (DotA) because it is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) which
pits two opposing teams trying to overwhelm each other on three lanes with
respawning creeps and heroes. The action is fast-paced and real-time.
Mobile
Legends: Bang Bang is an Action Real-Time Strategy (ARTS) type of game. It pits
up to ten users divided into two groups trying to overcome the towers in the
lanes and the respawning creeps that make up their side’s army. Each group can
form their own team of heroes and can collect items that can be bought from the
item shop.
It
also has several different game modes: the ranked match, the human vs.
artificial intelligence (AI) mode, the brawl mode, the custom game mode and the
match-up mode. The match-up and human vs. AI modes are immediately available
after the tutorials are done. The brawl mode is available after reaching level
three while the ranked mode is unlocked after level six. The custom game
becomes operational after you reach level seven.
As
of July 28, there are 40 heroes available to choose from with rumors of more
heroes being developed. Each hero boasts of its own unique set of skills that
can be upgraded to make him stronger. There are items which impact their skill
levels. There are also potions and equipment which can be bought from the item
store without going back to your base.
These
heroes are ranked into tiers with those in the Gold tier being the strongest,
Tier 1 being in the normal range and Tier 2 as the weakest in the group. The
beauty of the game is whether you choose the heroes in the gold tier or the
ones in tier 2, you have an equal chance of succeeding. There are no guarantees
that your chosen hero would lead your team to victory. You strategize and
develop your army in real time with the help of your friends. Your success
depends on how your team cooperates and overwhelms the other team’s structures
and creatures.
The
heroes are also classified into six categories. You can choose a hero from the
fighter class, the tank class, the mage class, the assassin class, the marksman
class and the passives or support class. Create a balanced team of heroes and
meld their attacks and defensive skills into a cohesive unit and your chances
of succeeding increases. You can mix and match heroes in the hero selection
pane so your team can put out the best composition possible. However, the game
pace is pretty fast so better choose carefully. The rounds also last for only
ten minutes so you have to be on your toes at all times. You need to react fast
if you want to get past the defenses and achieve your goal.
Mobile Legends is a pretty engrossing game. You start the game thinking you’ll only be playing one round but you’ll get hooked immediately. You’ll find yourself getting match after match because each match is different and offers endless possibilities and combinations. The variety of heroes and their skills make it a huge hit with users since they can master as many as they want.
The
graphics are also pretty awesome. The lines are smooth and the various arenas
and battlegrounds interact with the chosen heroes seamlessly. The portability
of the game makes it much easier to access as well. Whereas other MOBA games
need a laptop or a desktop to play, with Mobile Legends, all you need is a
decent enough smart phone which can handle the graphics and gameplay specs and
you’re good to go. Of course, a stable wi-fi signal helps as well to prevent
game lags.
Overall,
Mobile Legends is in the right track if it wants to dominate the market in a
few more months. It has certainly carved a niche among MOBA users who wish for
highly interesting games which promises endless enjoyment. Its continued
development of heroes and improving its gameplay is a good thing since it keeps
the players interested and on their toes.
Mobile
Legends: Bang Bang comes highly recommended with the caveat of being too
engrossing. Users better know when to stop, otherwise, the game is liable to
keep you awake for hours on end.
