Here’s a touching story that will definitely restore your faith in humanity.

Nathan Steffel, a father from Ohio, posted a little request on Reddit. His daughter Sophia has just passed away six weeks after being born. It turned out that the baby had hepatic hemangioma in the liver and so she spent her short life in the children’s hospital, covered in medical tubing.

“My daughter recently passed away after a long battle in the children’s hospital. Since she was in the hospital her whole life, we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes from this photo?” Nathan posted on Reddit as user steffel07.
Little did Nathan know that many people were touched by his simple plea and, shortly thereafter, responded to it. Artists and Photoshop experts started sending their renditions of baby Sophia as their way of expressing their condolences to Nathan.

Here is Sophia’s original photo:

And these are some of the artists interpretations that Nathan received on Reddit:

Pencil drawings and paintings were also created to honor and remember the infant.

Personally, I liked this one a lot:

I think it’s both lovely and touching that the artist thought of Sophia as a little angel because to her father and to many people, she truly is one!

Another great rendition is this one. I like the blue eyes and the adorable pose. This is probably what Sophia will look like if she had grown a few months more.

We do feel bad for Nathan and his family’s loss. At the same time, it can really be heartwarming to consider that so many good people are willing to use their talents to comfort a grieving father. Art truly is powerful after all!
